Actress-singer Danielle Savre currently stars in the movie American Primitive. She took time out of her schedule recently to answer questions via email.

California-born Danielle Savre stars as Madeline Goodhart in American Primitive, a film about teenage life in 1973 and a girl who discovers her father is gay. The movie centers on Goodhart and her family life, living in Cape Cod.

Savre's other memorable roles include a recurring role on NBC's Heroes; she's made numerous guest starring parts in such shows as Malcolm in the Middle, Charmed and The Closer. She's also part of the all-girl group Trinity.

S101: You grew up in California, and seem to live a very active, fashionable lifestyle--what was it like filming a movie that takes place in a different decade and centered on the vacation town? Did you ever cringe at the clothes?

Danielle Savre: I absolutely loved it!!! That's one of the upsides of filming on location you get to visit places that you normally may never venture too. Cape Cod is so far from what Los Angeles is, that is was nice to have a change of pace and scenery. Also, it has so much history there! When you see the movie you also feel as if the location and house play there own character in the film. Regarding the clothes, past eras have always intrigued me. To get the chance to submerge myself into a character of that time period was a dream come true. The clothes at times were hilarious but it all played into the story. I wish we still had some of the trends that existed back then but the others I am happy are no longer around.

Why do you think this story is important for audiences to see? What appealed to you most in wanting to be in this film?

The power of love. The film deals with taboo topics, family generations, and the ability of acceptance. It is also from my character, Madeline Goodhart a female protagonist's, point of view. It deals with the changing of times and excepting your loved ones for who they are. In this case my father being homosexual after the death of his wife, my mother. It also does it in such a beautiful way; it doesn't force an opinion on you. It just gracefully shows you, through the eyes of Madeline how she was challenged with coming to terms with the unknown in 1973.

What did you learn from co-star Adam Pascal? Any musical theater tips?

Adam, Tate Donovan, James Siking, and Anne Ramsey they all taught me so much. They have all been in the entertainment industry for so long and are so amazingly talented, just getting the chance to sit back and watch them work was a pleasure. Adam really pushed the thought and stories of musical theater on me so much that I will be throwing myself into that as well very soon. It's completely different from being in front of a camera and I hold so much respect for people that can achieve success in both.

What ways do you stay connected with your fans? Do you Twitter? Facebook? Myspace?

I have Facebook and a couple Myspace pages. I haven't got into Twitter yet but I keep hearing about it everywhere. Mainly my space though at www.myspace.com/dsavre .

It is so much to just go on there and chat with such supportive fans. Fans truly deserve so much credit for the success of the stars they support.

What are your next projects?

At the current time I am in the studio finishing my solo album, which is so amazing and is helping me grow so much as an artist. I really want to take my time with it and release something that I believe in and love. On the acting side, I am traveling next to the Seattle International Film Festival to promote American Primitive. I am also continuing to read scripts of interest.

What's something that people would be very surprised to learn about you?

I have no clue [laughs]. I am just a pretty average 20 year old when I am outside of work. I am looking forward to my 21st birthday more than anything. I guess something that would surprise people is I graduated high school at the age of 15 and completed a year at community college. I plan to go back to school and get a degree when time permits it. And I love to run. Which most people find pretty weird!

Anything else you would like to share?

I just died my hair red yesterday, which I am ecstatic about. It was long overdue. I had been wanting to dye it for so long. And that my favorite sport in the world to watch is hockey!! Also thank you so much for taking the time to check me out. I had a blast answering all your questions and I hope you guys will check out American Primitive when it hits a theater near you and that you will keep an eye out for my album.
